Kerry Dean Kravitz, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Kravitz has a private psychiatric practice in Portola Valley, CA. He serves as an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine, and is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Certification. Dr. Kravitz belongs to numerous professional organizations including the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, Northern California Psychiatric Society, California Psychiatric Association, Santa Clara County Medical Association, American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Clinical Faculty Association Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Stanford University School of Medicine, and Physicians for Social Responsibility.

Dr. Kravitz has extensive research experience. He studied the electrophorectic mobility of neuroblastoma cells with Dr. Raphael Elul at UCLA. He developed algorithms and computer programs for calculation of likelihood functions on pedigree data in order to compare various genetic models. He has studied extended families of probands with hemochromatosis, clarifying the mode of inheritance (recessive) and linkage to HLA loci. Dr. Kravitz has participated in diagnostic evaluation of patients in research protocols and consulted on a project that designed an artificial intelligence program for pharmacological treatment of depression. He co-authored a chapter in the American Handbook of Psychiatry, Volume Eight, consulted on experimental design of pedigree studies of schizophrenic probands, and co-authored a report on head injury and mood disturbance.
